Sensitively may step up into stakes
Sensitively won her debut in a maiden race by 9 1/4 lengths Feb. 21 and could go for a stakes in her second start this spring, according to trainer Phil D’Amato.
Sensitively earned a 90 Beyer Speed Figure for her victory, in which she raced near the front and pulled clear through the stretch. The win was not a surprise to D’Amato, who trains Sensitively for owner-breeder John Liviakis.
“We expected a big performance,” D’Amato said. “She did that while being eased down in the last sixteenth. I‘d like to try for a stakes race.”
D’Amato said the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on May 1 may not be realistic.
“I think it’s too late,” he said. “I think she’ll go two turns, but it might be a month too late to go that route.”
