Seeking the Sherif pointing to Damascus Stakes

ARCADIA, Calif. – Seeking the Sherif, the former $12,500 claimer who won his first stakes in the $75,000 Katella Stakes at Los Alamitos last Saturday, will be pointed for the $100,000 Damascus Stakes at Santa Anita on Oct. 31.
The Damascus Stakes is run over seven furlongs and is part of the undercard of the first day of the Breeders’ Cup races. Trainer Ron Ellis said the six weeks between the Katella and Damascus will suit Seeking the Sherif, who has never run farther than 6 1/2 furlongs.
“I like to give him time between races,” he said. “I think he can go seven-eighths. The way he relaxed, it’s something to think about.”
Seeking the Sherif has won 5 of 8 starts and earned $222,700 since being claimed last December. A 5-year-old gelding, Seeking the Sherif races for Steve Zolotas, Sabina Romo-Zolotas, and Tim Goodwin.
