Seek and Destroy delivers as favorite in Ontario Colleen

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Seek and Destroy, the favored Chad Brown-trained shipper from New York, prevailed over Speedy Soul in Saturday’s Grade 3 Ontario Colleen Stakes at Woodbine.
Seek and Destroy stalked the leaders between rivals in the one-mile inner turf route as Sister Peacock, under Jesse Campbell, and I’ll Take the Gold, with Skye Chernetz up, vied for the lead.
Seek and Destroy came under a ride along the rail on the far turn and then kicked in strongly through the stretch to win going away by three lengths in 1:35.65.
Speedy Soul rallied outside to catch Sister Peacock in the final strides for second in the eight-horse field of 3-year-old fillies.

Seek and Destroy gave the hot jockey Luis Contreras a sweep of both stakes on the card. He also took the Toronto Cup on Armistice Day.
“I knew that [Sister Peacock] was going to be on the lead,” Contreras said. “When I saw Skye going after her, I decided to stay right behind the speed. I had so much horse all the way, and she destroyed the field at the end. She was relaxed. I could put her anywhere I wanted. She’s so nice to ride.”
A daughter of Verrazano, Seek and Destroy ($5.50) banked $75,000 of the $130,000 purse for e Five Racing Thoroughbreds.
