Seek Again targets Fourstardave

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - If Wise Dan makes it back to run in the Grade 2 Fourstardave Handicap on Aug. 9, he might face a familiar rival in Seek Again, who came within a head of Wise Dan in the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic on Derby Day at Churchill Downs.
Originally thought to be headed for the Arlington Million, Seek Again is now being pointed to the $500,000 Fourstardave, according to trainer Billy Mott.
“Juddmonte has another horse for the Million,” said Mott, referring to the entity that owns Seek Again. “We might run him at a mile. I don’t think he wants to go more than 10 furlongs, and if he’s effective at a mile, it gives me a lot more options.”
Seek Again won the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby last year at 1 1/8 miles. After giving Wise Dan all he wanted in the Woodford Reserve, Seek Again finished third in the Grade 1 Manhattan at 1 1/4 miles at Belmont.
On Monday, Seek Again worked five furlongs in 1:01.90 over the Oklahoma training track, his second work back since the Manhattan.
