Sebs Princess burst to the lead in the stretch for a 4 3/4-length win in the $100,000 Louisiana Jewel on Friday night at Delta Downs. Film Study closed for second, while it was another 1 1/2 lengths back in third to Schiff’s Corner.
Our Lost Love, the favorite making her two-turn debut, pushed the pace and finished fifth.
Sebs Princess ($8.80) sat off the pace set by Sarah’s Passion, who took the field through an opening quarter in 23.03 seconds, a half-mile in 47.78, and six furlongs in 1:15.29. The eventual winner advanced and rolled through the lane, covering seven furlongs on a fast track in 1:29.42.
Diego Saenz rode the winner for trainer Steven Duke.
The Jewel was for 2-year-old fillies bred in Louisiana. It was the first stakes win for Sebs Princess, who came into the race off a maiden special weight win. Northpointe Thoroughbreds owns the daughter of the Distorted Humor stallion Khozan.
