Season is not over for Romans juveniles

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The top 2-year-old colts in the Dale Romans barn are expected to have one more start this year, although the trainer’s top 2-year-old filly Girl Daddy won’t run again until 2021.
Sittin On Go and Smiley Sobotka will stay separated, with one likely to go in the Nov. 28 Kentucky Jockey Club at Churchill and the other in the Dec. 5 Remsen at Aqueduct. Romans said that Ultimate Badger will run in either of those Grade 2 races.

Sittin On Go, winner of the Iroquois on Kentucky Derby Day, was a no-factor ninth at 9-1 in the Nov. 6 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. Smiley Sobotka has maintained a steady breeze schedule since winning an Oct. 4 maiden race at Keeneland. Ultimate Badger was a first-level allowance winner on opening day of the Churchill fall meet, Oct. 25.
Girl Daddy incurred her first defeat in the Nov. 6 BC Juvenile Fillies when finishing third, beaten two lengths by the victorious Vequist and just a nose for second.
Meanwhile, Romans is hoping to find a suitable allowance as a comeback spot for Dennis’ Moment, the star-crossed 3-year-old whose latest start resulted in a last-place finish in the Feb. 29 Fountain of Youth at Gulfstream.
“Hopefully we’ll get him in before we leave out of here for Florida,” he said.
