OPELOUSAS, La. – Talk about good recent form. Six of the 10 colts and geldings entered in Saturday night’s $50,000 Ragin Cajun Stakes won their most recent start. Two of the remaining four won two starts back, so bettors are going to have a tough time determining who is the hottest of the hot. Curiously, it is one of the two remaining runners who has been installed as the tepid 7-2 morning-line favorite. One has to go three starts back to find Sea Vow’s last win, in the seven-furlong Big Drama Stakes at Delta Downs. In his most recent start, Sea Vow weakened late in the 1 1/16-mile Crescent City Derby at Fair Grounds in March. The move back to seven furlongs and one turn should serve the Joey Foster charge well Saturday. KEY CONTENDERS Sea Vow, by Private Vow Last 3 Beyers: 52-76-76 ◗ Has a 2-1-0 record in three races around one turn, including a stakes win against fellow Louisiana-breds in the Champions Day Juvenile at Fair Grounds in December. His win in the Big Drama was at this seven-furlong distance, but it came going two turns at Delta Downs. Couche Couche, by Pulling Punches Last 3 Beyers: 76-67-54 ◗ Even though his maiden score came on grass, he has run well enough over dirt to qualify for consideration in this spot, especially with his stalking style, which appears to be a good fit with ample speed to sit behind. :: Bet Evangeline Downs with DRF Bets.
