Sea Foam headed to Laurel for John B. Campbell

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Sea Foam, a New York-bred stakes winner who has excelled in races run around two turns, will be pointed to the $100,000 John B. Campbell Stakes at Laurel Park on Feb. 19, trainer Michelle Giangiulio said Friday.
The Campbell is run at 1 1/16 miles. Sea Foam’s last four wins have come in two-turn races at 1 1/8 miles.
Giangiulio said she had planned to give Sea Foam a break following his victory in the Alex M. Robb Handicap on Dec. 31, but the horse had other ideas. He has had two works since the Robb, including a five-furlong move in 1:03.20 on Wednesday.
“He wanted nothing to do with a break,” Giangiulio said.

Another reason Giangiulio said she chose the Campbell over a New York stakes is that Sea Foam bled in the Robb. In non-graded stakes at Laurel, horses are permitted to race on Lasix.
“I think it’s the cold that’s causing him to bleed,” Giangiulio said.
Meanwhile, Giangiulio resumed her winning ways in New York this winter when Eucharist won a $16,000 claiming race here on Thursday. That improved Giangiulio’s record to 5 for 7 this winter at Aqueduct. She has increased her stable to nine horses after having claimed four runners since Jan. 20. She won an eight-way shake on Jan. 23 to claim Customerexperience.
