Two $50,000 Ohio Sires Stakes divisions were contested for 3-year-old pacing colts and geldings on a steamy and hot Saturday night, July 18 at Scioto Downs.  It was the third round of the four leg series for sophomore sidewinders, with both splits featuring seven contestants each. The second OSS tilt saw Ocean Rock break the Scioto Downs track record for a 3-year-old pacing gelding with a 1:48 4/5 performance for driver Dan Noble. The son of Rockin Amadeus lowered the mark of 1:50 set by Gallo Blue Chip (Dan Dube) in 2000.  Owned by breeder Sandra Burnett, Ocean Rock left the gate at 3-5 odds for trainer Christi Noble and now has $266,677 in career earnings.   The hard-trying Elver Hanover was second at 4-5 for Chris Page, and suffered his first career defeat in his 11th start, while 90-1 Worthabuck (Josh Sutton) was third. Stanford Court enjoyed a front-stepping steer by Ronnie Wrenn Jr. to notch his second victory in this series, this one clocked in 1:50 1/5.  The son of Nob Hill High, who is trained by Brian Brown for Robert Mondillo, Richard Lombardo, Hen-Shaut Stable, and Lightning 5 Racing was second in leg one and captured leg two in 1:50 3/5. The homebred bay colt now has $157,210 in career earnings.  Stanford Court left the gate as the 1-5 favorite, with 7-2 Can B Perfect second (Tyler Smith), and longshot Gray Dragon third. --press release (Ohio Standardbred Development Fund)--
