McSeaside's track record 1:49 4/5 performance was the highlight of Ohio Sires Stakes action for 3-year-old fillies on Monday evening at Scioto Downs.
Racing in the second of two $55,000 splits for pacers, McSeaside (Chris Page) got away in fourth while Lofty Treasure (Sam Widger) ripped off opening-half fractions of 25 3/5 and 54 1/5 before being overtaken by a first-up Super Girl (Brett Miller) nearing the 1:22 three-quarters. When Super Girl cleared, that left McSeaside first-over, but she would blow past Super Girl halfway through the final bend and then go on to tally by a length and a half over Dragon By The Sea (Tyler Smith). Fear Of Sports (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) was third.
A daughter of Downbytheseaside bred by Andray Farm and Sergent Stables LLC., McSeaside is trained by Ron Burke for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Beasty LLC., J&T Silva Stables, LLC., and Knox Services Inc. Last year's Ohio Sires Stakes champion, McSeaside has five wins, four seconds, and a third from 15 starts, has now earned $358,114, and paid $5.00 to win as the 3-2 favorite.
Back in the first division, Cruise Alert (Dan Noble) prevailed by a length in 1:51 3/5 after she led the way through stations of 26 3/5, 55 4/5, and 1:23 4/5. Hey Hey Mama (Wrenn Jr.) and Kasagi (Widger) rounded out the trifecta.
