Scioto: Seven Ohio Sires Stakes splits featured on Saturday night

It was a busy Saturday night of Ohio Sires Stakes racing at Eldorado Scioto Downs, as they had divisions for both sexes of 2-year-old pacers, plus splits for sophomore colt and gelding pacers.

Trainer Ron Burke had a double, prevailing in a $75,000 2-year-old filly pace with Cleveland Darby (by Downbytheseaside and bred by Carl Howard, paid $3 to win) in 1:52 2/5 for driver Chris Page and owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC., R A S Racing LLC. and Larry Karr and in a $50,000 3-year-old male pace with When Is Parade (by Summa Cum Laude and bred by owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC., Michelle Yanek and Phil Collura, paid $66.20 to win) in 1:49 for driver Ronnie Wrenn Jr.

Also tallying twice was trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. He was victorious in a $75,000 2-year-old male pace with Night Surfer (by Downbytheseaside and bred by Kad Farms, paid $2.80 to win) in 1:53 4/5 for driver Luke Hanners and owners Let It Ride Stables Inc., Morrison Racing Stables and Steven Held, and in a $50,000 3-year-old colt and gelding pace with Tsunami Seas (by Downbytheseaside and bred by Country Club Acres Inc. and L & H Management Services, paid $2.60 to win) in 1:49 4/5 for driver David Miller and owners Jeffrey Rector, Larry Wills and Hutchison Harness LLC.

David Miller also captured a $75,000 2-year-old filly pace with Tempting Flames (by Catch The Fire and bred by Ivy Holdings, paid $2.10 to win) in 1:52 1/5 for trainer Michael Hitchcock and owner William Hartt.

Morgan Jr. had a third horse cross the wire first in Starblazer, but after a judges' inquiry, he was found to have interfered with Pet Project in the lane, and they reversed their placings in a $50,000 3-year-old colt and gelding pace. Pet Project, by Pet Rock and bred by co-owner/trainer Kim Dailey with Jerry Zosel and Kathy Ratcliff, paid $3.60 to win. Tyler Smith drove Pet Project, who is co-owned by Jr Stable Llp.

Rounding out the Ohio Sires Stakes victors was Jett James, who bagged a $75,000 2-year-old male pace in 1:51 2/5 for driver Brett Miller and owner/trainer Adam Short. Jett James, who was bred by Jacob Mossbarger, returned $2.10 to win.
