Seaside Diva posted her fourth straight victory by taking the first of two $55,000 Ohio Sires Stakes duels for 2-year-old pacing fillies on Friday at Eldorado Scioto Downs. Daisy's Star emerged victorious in the other section.
Driven by Chris Page, Seaside Diva got away in sixth from post six at the 26 3/5 opening quarter and then joined the two-wide flow third-over heading to the half, which went up on the board in 55 seconds flat. Heading to the 1:22 3/5 three-quarters, Page sent Seaside Diva three-wide, and she moved up boldly on the final bend to join Rose Run Zoey (Tyler Smith) and Flyin Bullets (Brett Miller) coming into the stretch.
Through the drive it was all Seaside Diva, as she sustained her brush to take over the top spot and then drew off to win by 2 1/2 lengths in 1:51 2/5. Rose Run Zoey wound up second after doing the uncovered work from first-over, and Flyin Bullets, who put up the fractions on the front-end, had to settle for third.
A daughter of Downbytheseaside, Seaside Diva is trained by Ron Burke and is a homebred for Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC., Knox Services Inc. and Let It Ride Stables Inc. She has earned $139,250 and paid $2.80 to win as the 2-5 favorite.

In the second division Daisy's Star (Sam Widger) moved out of the pocket before the 27 3/5 quarter and grabbed the lead away from Beautiful Lather (Aaron Merriman) past that station. From there, Daisy's Star would go on to click off a 55 4/5 half and a 1:24 2/5 three-quarters but had company in the form of first-over favorite Heartofthesea (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) and a three-wide Genetic Edge (Dan Noble).
Daisy's Star responded gamely to the challenges and was able to repel Heartofthesea's bid turning into the lane, then she did the same thing to Genetic Edge all the way to the finish line, prevailing by a quarter of a length in 1:53 1/5. Beautiful Lather had room in the passing lane but only had an even kick and wound up third.
By Racing Hill, Daisy's Star was bred by trainer Johnson Hill Jr. and owner Brent Tartar. She has a record of 2-0-2 from six efforts, has now pocketed $74,376 and returned $8.60 to win as the 3-1 second choice.
