Scioto: Rose Run Yanae breaks maiden in style in Ohio Sires Stakes

Rose Run Yanae churned out a 1:55 4/5 mile to top the charts in Thursday's trio of $40,000 Ohio Sires Stakes races for 2-year-old trotting fillies at Scioto Downs.
Driven by Ronnie Wrenn Jr. in the second of the three flights, Rose Run Yanae blasted out from post two and forced fellow leaver Truly Relentless (Chris Lems) to back off into the pocket prior to the 28 second opening quarter. Rose Run Yanae then got away with soft fractions of just 28 1/5 and 1:27 2/5 and was able to fend off a first-over Swinging Senorita (Anthony MacDonald), along with Truly Relentless, in a 28 2/5 closing panel, winning by a length and a quarter. Swinging Senorita got the nod over Truly Relentless for second.
Ron Burke trains Rose Run Yanae, a daughter of Triumphant Caviar-Stonebridge Dancer bred by Rose Run Farm, for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Hatfield Stables, Knox Services Inc., and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. Rose Run Yanae, a $90,000 buy at last year's Ohio Selected Jug Sale, won for the first time in her sixth try, pushed her earnings to $44,260, and paid $18.00 to win as the 8-1 third choice.
Back in the first division, Global Girl (Don Irvine Jr.) moved from the pocket to the point beyond the 27 3/5 quarter, and after a 57 2/5 half and a 1:27 2/5 three-quarters, Global Girl pulled away from the others while totally wrapped-up by Irvine Jr., hitting the wire 2 3/4 lengths ahead of A Long Dream (Brett Miller) in a 1:56 4/5 performance. Twish (Austin Hanners) checked in third.
A daughter of the Muscle Hill stallion Global Republic S, Global Girl is trained by Garry Martin for owner Sue Stockwell. Out of the Malabar Man mare Bullville Ata Girl and bred by Bill Byler, Global Girl fetched $6,500 at the 2021 Buckeye Yearling Sale and has a record of 2-1-1 from four starts to go with a bankroll of $62,300. She was the even-money favorite and returned $4.20 to win.

Rose Run Farm had another winner when Rose Run Yolanda (Trevor Smith) took the final split in 1:58 1/5. Sister Charlie (Aaron Merriman) led the way through opening-half stations of 29 1/5 and 1:00 3/5, but Rose Run Yolanda, who went first-up from fourth coming to the half, took the top spot on the outside approaching the 1:29 4/5 three-quarters. On the final bend Rose Run Yolanda dispatched Sister Charlie for good and then trotted away from the rest of the pack on her way to a six length victory. She's Loveable (Wrenn Jr.) got up for second, followed by Rose Run Yancee (Kayne Kauffman).
Rose Run Yolanda is a Triumphant Caviar-Rose Run Keepsake filly trained by Todd Luther for owner Black Magic Racing LLC. Acquired for $50,000 at the Ohio Selected Jug Sale a year ago, Rose Run Yolanda has four wins and a second from five appearances and has pocketed $111,000. She paid $2.80 to win as the 2-5 choice.
