Scioto: Rose Run Uptowngal, Rylee Roo triumph in Ohio Sires Stakes

Rose Run Uptowngal and Rylee Roo were the winners of the two $50,000 Ohio Sires Stakes divisions that took place on Friday evening at Scioto Downs.
Driven by Chris Page, Rose Run Uptowngal found a seat in fourth from post eight and navigated safely around breaking favorite Queen Of The Pride (Tony Hall) going to the 26 2/5 opening quarter. Rose Run Uptowngal was out and on the move first-up as Carmen Ohio (Ryan Stahl) reached the half in 55 2/5, and Rose Run Uptowngal was able to complete her brush into the lead before the 1:23 1/5 three-quarters. Norman`s Madeline (Brett Miller), who tracked Rose Run Uptowngal from second-over and then dropped into the pocket, angled out late on the far turn to take a shot at her through the lane, but Rose Run Uptowngal held sway, winning by a length in 1:52 2/5. Queen Of The Pride made an amazing recovery after the early break to cross the wire third, but she was placed last for interfering with Carmen Ohio while off-stride on the opening turn.
A daughter of Dragon Again, Rose Run Uptowngal is trained by Ron Burke for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Phil Collura, J&T Silva- Purnel & Libby, and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. This was Rose Run Uptowngal's fifth career win, and she has now earned $122,960. The 3-1 second choice, she paid $8.00 to win.
In the other split Rylee Roo (Aaron Merriman) forged her way to the front past the 26 2/5 first quarter and would go on to click off a half in 54 4/5 and a three-quarters in 1:22 2/5. Off those fractions, it was just a 29 3/5 final quarter, but that was enough to get Rylee Roo the win, as she found the line a length to the good over Giggles In Dreams (Shawn Barker II) who came on from second-over. In Love Again (Dan Noble), who was ninth and last at three-quarters, rallied for third.
Steve Carter trains Rylee Roo, a filly by Pet Rock, for owner/breeder Steven Price. Rylee Roo made her fifth appearance in the winner's circle, and she has now put away $149,125. The even-money choice, she returned $4.00 to win.
