Scioto: A plethora of Ohio Sires Stakes events took place on Saturday

Eight of the 16 races that occurred on Saturday night at Eldorado Scioto Downs were $55,000 Ohio Sires Stakes events, with 3-year-old filly trotters, 3-year-old male pacers, 2-year-old colt and gelding trotters and rookie pacing males all taking turns around the five-eighths-mile oval.

Fresh off picking up his 10,000th career victory on Friday, driver Brett Miller won two sires stakes showdowns, taking a 2-year-old colt and gelding pace with Janelle Granny (by Fear The Dragon and bred by Larry Miller) in 1:51 2/5 for owner-trainer Betty Clegg and a sophomore filly trot with Rose Run Yolanda (by Triumphant Caviar and bred by Rose Run Farm) in 1:54 for trainer Todd Luther and owner Greg Luther Racing LLC.

Driver Chris Page and trainer Ron Burke also teamed up to snag a pair of sires stakes victories, capturing a 2-year-old male trot with Tennessee Tom (by Long Tom and bred by Albert Miller) in 1:54 1/5 for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC., Hatfield Stables and Knox Services Inc. and a 3-year-old colt and gelding pace with Act Fast (by Downbytheseaside and bred by Fred Hertrich III) in 1:49 1/5 for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Knox Services Inc., Rich Lombardo Racing LLC. and Beasty LLC.

The other 3-year-old filly trot split went to Cornstar (by Coraggioso and bred by R. Brad Shafer) in 1:54 4/5 for driver Chris Lems, trainer Scott Cox and owner Vickie Jennings, while the second grouping for rookie trotting colts and geldings went to Deville Hill (by What The Hill and bred by Darwin Shaver, Ann Shaver, Laura Perniciaro and Christopher Perniciaro) in 1:57 3/5 for driver Dan Noble, trainer Clarence Foulk and owners Tom Ceraso Jr. and Norman Rae Racing LLC.

Geldings by Racing Hill won the remaining colt and gelding paces, with 3-year-old Quick Trick (bred by owners Knox Services Inc. and trainer Jeff Conger) scoring in 1:50 for driver Tyler Smith and 2-year-old Rose Run Zane (bred by Rose Run Farm) getting the job done in 1:51 3/5 for driver Austin Hanners, trainer Dan Venier and owners John and Leann Saunders.
