webmaster|Aug 05, 2021

The Ohio State Fair races commence Thursday (August 5) at Eldorado Scioto Downs. With divisions for 2- and 3-year-olds of both sexes and gaits, Ohio breds will be competing for over $1.04 million in three days of racing.

Three divisions of the 2-year-old colt trot and four divisions of the 2-year-old filly trot kick off the Ohio State Fair action. Each colt division will go for $48,000, while each filly division will go for $35,300-36,000.

The Chris Beaver trainee Caviar Gold (Triumphant Caviar - Gee O'keeffe) is the overwhelming 9/5 morning line favorite in the first colt division. Aaron Merriman will drive the colt, who is two-for-two in Ohio Sires Stakes action with a lifetime best 1:56 4/5.

Slim Jimmy (Long Tom - Swinging Nadine) is the 7/2 favorite for the third and last division of colts. Competing in race 11, Slim Jimmy looks to make it three in a row for trainer Jason McGinnis and driver Anthony MacDonald.

Chris Beaver has all four race favorites for the fillies with Gabbys C Note (Triumphant caviar - Gabby's Creditcard) and Brett Miller at 3/2; Stephanie Hill (What The Hill - I Like Stephanie) and Aaron Merriman sit at 7/5; Reichers Caviar (Triumphant Caviar - Reichers) and Merriman at 5/2 and Caviar Roxie Due (Triumphant Caviar - Rose Run Roxann) and Merriman at 6/5.

Ohio State Fair action will then continue on Friday (August 6) with 2- and 3-year old filly pacers and 3-year-old filly trotters. Saturday (August 7) will showcase the 2- and 3-year-old pacing colts and 3-year-old trotting colts.
