The holiday card on Tuesday at Eldorado Scioto Downs featured a pair of $55,000 Ohio Sires Stakes tilts for 3-year-old colt and gelding trotters that were won by John Dutton and Jet Hill, both sons of What The Hill.
In the first flight Rumble Strips (Kayne Kauffman) was well-rated on the lead through fractions of 28 1/5, 57 and 1:25 2/5, but John Dutton (Chris Page), who got away in sixth and then followed Bidenurtime (Sandy Beatty) into contention from second-over, rallied in the stretch and got up to win by a length in 1:53 2/5. Burton's Hill (Brett Miller) closed well in the passing lane after an inside trip and got second and Jogging Full Trot (Dan Noble) advanced from sixth to third in the drive to the wire as Rumble Strips faded to fourth.
Ron Burke trains John Dutton, who was bred by Kahrig Racing Stable and Nicholas Catalano, for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Knox Services Inc., Johnny Yoder and Ras Racing LLC. John Dutton posted his eighth career victory, sent his earnings to $222,956 and paid $8.40 to win as the 3-1 third choice.

The other division saw Jet Hill (Kurt Sugg) lead to the 28 1/5 quarter, 58 2/5 half and 1:26 three-quarters before he drew off in a 27 4/5 final panel, defeating pocket-sitter Till I Collapse As (Tyler Smith) by 3 1/4 lengths in a 1:53 4/5 mile. Black Magic (B. Miller) wound up third after getting rebuffed by the eventual winner following a first-over attempt.
Bred by Martz Creek Farm, owned by Serenity Racing Stables and trained by Ed Miller, Jet Hill has compiled a record of 7-4-0 from 12 appearances, has put away $269,525 and returned $2.80 to win as the 2-5 favorite.
