Scioto: Giggles In Dreams with the upset in six-figure Ohio State Fair race

Giggles In Dreams, dismissed at 14-1, pulled the upset in a $135,500 Ohio State Fair event for 3-year-old pacing fillies on a stakes-filled Friday night at Scioto Downs.
Driven by Shawn Barker II, Giggles In Dreams took advantage of an early break by heavy favorite Queen Of The Pride (Tony Hall) and led to the 27 second opening quarter, but Rylee Roo (Aaron Merriman) came up on the outside and took command past that marker. Rylee Roo woul hit the half in 55 1/5 and the three-quarters in 1:22 3/5, fending off the first-over advance of Snobbytown (Josh Sutton) to the latter pole. Rylee Roo put away Snobbytown past three-quarters but couldn't navigate the final turn, as she jumped it off, leaving Giggles In Dreams, who was already two-wide and challenging, back in front. From there, Giggles In Dreams remained clear, winning by a length and three-quarters in 1:51 4/5. Rose Run Uptowngal (Chris Page) was second, followed by Snobbytown.
A daughter of Nob Hill High, Giggles In Dreams is trained and co-owned by Donald Yeazel, who shares ownership with Michael Yeazel. This was Giggles In Dreams's sixth career victory, and she has now earned $143,699. She paid $31.80 to win.
While he didn't have any success there, Merriman won three other Ohio State Fair splits, headlined by a 1:53 4/5 track record triumph with Only Take Cash in a $47,500 dash for sophomore trotting fillies. Bob McIntosh bred, trains, and co-owns the daughter of Cash Hall, last year's Ohio Sires Stakes champion, with partners Dave Boyle and Mardon Stables.
Merriman also took two $53,000 Ohio State Fair 2-year-old filly paces with Beautiful Beach, a daughter of We Will See-Beach Resort, in 1:53 2/5 for trainer Tyler George and owner Tom Lehmann, and Artful Dancer, a Yankee Cruiser-Dancin Caroll filly, in 1:54 2/5 for trainer Steve Carter and owners Jay Mossbarger, Tammy Carter, Richard Lombardo, and Josh Green.
Trainer Chris Beaver also had multiple Ohio State Fair winners on the night, sending out Triumphant Caviar fillies Pure Chance (Jason Thompson, 1:54 4/5) and Bella's Rose Power (Kayne Kauffman, 1:57 3/5) to triumphs in the other two 3-year-old filly trot races. Beaver also co-owns both fillies, partnering with Steven Zeehandelar on Pure Chance and Zeehandelar, James Gallagher, and Marion Beachy on Bella's Rose Power.
Looksgoodinaromper (Page) also visited the winner's circle in an Ohio State Fair contest, taking a 1:53 2/5 victory in a $53,000 rookie filly pace. Ron Burke trains the daughter of Pet Rock-Don't Blame Her for Burke Racing Stable LLC. and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
