Scioto: Freshmen trotters commence their Ohio Sires Stakes campaigns

Drivers Chris Page and Chris Lems, along with trainer Steve Carter, had a pair of victories in $50,000 Ohio Sires Stakes tests for 2-year-old trotters on Saturday night at Scioto Downs.

Page teamed up with Carter to score with filly Envious Queen (by Long Tom and bred by Andrew Kauffman, paid $9.80 to win) in 1:55 4/5 and gelding Iluvmymoni (by Ready For Moni and bred by Wayne Weaver, paid $6.80 to win) in 1:56 3/5. Carter also co-owns Envious Queen with Hatfield Stables and Cass Gallagher, while Iluvmymoni is owned by Brixton Medical Inc. and Hatfield Stables.

As for Lems, he visited the winner's circle with gelding Roll'n In Moni (by Ready For Moni and bred by Ernest Ayers, paid $4 to win) in 1:57 1/5 and colt Walks The Fire (by In Range and bred by Vernon Miller, paid $8.20 to win) in 1:57. Roll'n In Moni is trained by Scott Cox for owners Vickie Jennings and Brad Nowakowski, while Vernon Beachy sent out Walks The Fire for owners Trotters R Us and First Up Racing Stable.

Also winning their respective divisions were:

--Kissme Ifyoucan (a daughter of In Range bred by Polly Hilliard, paid $2.40 to win) in 1:56 for driver Austin Hanners, trainer Todd Luther and owner Greg Luther Racing LLC.;

--Sigurd (a Long Tom gelding bred by owner Ann-Mari Daley, paid $9.20 to win) in 1:57 3/5 for trainer/driver Sandy Beatty;

--Rose Run Cybill (an In Range filly bred by Rose Run Farm, paid $8 to win) in 1:57 for driver Kurt Sugg, trainer Daren Harvey and owners Wayne Mast Jr. and Callam Racing LLC.
