Scioto: A Fancy Face heads Ohio State Fair victors

A Fancy Face tied the Scioto Downs track record of 1:53 3/5 for a 3-year-old trotting filly in winning her $62,500 Ohio State Fair event on Friday night for Chris Page and Ron Burke.
Page tucked A Fancy Face in third from post five and sent her first-over past the 56 4/5 half. She would clear leader Uncle Peters Love (Brett Miller) past the 1:25 three-quarters, and a 28 3/5 final kicker got her the win by 7 1/4 lengths and a place in the record book at Scioto Downs. Globetrotting (Anthony MacDonald) and Champagne On Ice (Dan Noble) completed the trifecta.
Burke trains the victorious daughter of My MVP for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Hatfield Stables, J&T Silva- Purnel & Libby, and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. Unraced as a 2-year-old, A Fancy Face has won three times this season and paid $3.40 to win.
Burke and Page also won a $50,000 Ohio State Fair split for rookie pacing fillies with Summer Touch, a daughter of Well Said, in a front-stepping 1:53 4/5. Summer Touch now has a pair of wins and a second in three tries for co-owners/breeders Knox Services and Slaughter Racing Stb LLC. and co-owners Burke Racing Stable LLC. and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.

Hoochie Girl (Kayne Kauffman) split foes in the lane and pulled a 9-1 upset in the first of two $60,000 Ohio State Fair sections for sophomore pacing fillies. The daughter of Mister Big stopped the clock in 1:53 1/5 for trainer Ryan Miller and owners Miller Racing Stable Inc., Chris Gilbert, Chad Howell, and Janie Hartley.
Artful Dancer (Noble) forged her way into the lead in the lane despite a extended first-over grind and won the second test for 3-year-old pacing fillies by a length and three-quarters in 1:52 4/5. By Yankee Cruiser, Artful Dancer is trained by Steve Carter for owners Tammy Carter, Jay Mossbarger, Rich Lombardo Racing LLC., and Josh Green.
