Scioto Downs: Wrenn Jr. has the hot hands in Ohio State Fair events

Driver Ronnie Wrenn Jr. dominated Ohio State Fair action for 3-year-old fillies on Friday night at Scioto Downs, sweeping the two trot divisions and coming back to win one of the two pacing flights.
Wrenn Jr. teamed with trainer Chris Beaver for both trot winners. First was 10-1 shot Sesame, who worked out a second-over trip in the opening $56,600 split and came on in the lane to win by 2 1/4 lengths in 1:55 1/5. To Russia (Ryan Stahl) rallied for second, and Looking For Zelda (Tony Hall), the 1-5 favorite, was third after a pocket trip.
Beaver also co-owns Sesame, a daughter of Triumphant Caviar, with partner Steve Zeehandelar. This was her fourth career victory, and she has now earned $151,097. She paid $22.00 to win.
California Love gave Wrenn Jr. and Beaver the double, winning the next $55,900 trot test in 1:55 4/5. California Love forged her way into the lead from first-up past the 1:26 three-quarters and held sway through the lane, defeating Impinktoo (Kayne Kauffman) by a neck. Spunky Bottom Girl (Tyler Smith) came on from last to third in the back-half of the mile.
California Love, a Stormin Normand filly, is co-owned by Beaver and Zeehandelar with their partners Marion Beachy, and Moger-Delia Racing Inc. She made her ninth appearance in the winner's circle, pushed her bankroll to $134,827, and she returned $6.20 to win.
Over on the pacing side, Prsntpretynperfect gave Wrenn Jr. the hat trick by winning her $58,700 dash in 1:51 2/5. She parked past the 27 1/5 opening quarter to make the front, then battled with first-up challenger Ask Me Ifi Care (Mike Micallef) through a 55 second half and a 1:22 3/5 three-quarters. Ask Me Ifi Care stalled out on the far turn and Prsntpretynperfect brought the field into the lane. Baron Remy (Chris Page) angled out from the pocket to take her shot in the stretch, but Prsntpretynperfect held her off, winning by half a length. Up Front Flor Ida (Kauffman) checked in third.
The judges hung the inquiry sign to examine Prsntpretynperfect and Baron Remy getting in tight quarters and Baron Remy taking up in deep stretch, but made no change to the order.
Brian Brown trains Prsntpretynperfect, a Big Bad John filly, for owners Jennifer Brown, Richard Lombardo, and Marlene Taylor. This was Prsntpretynperfect's tenth lifetime win, and she has now pocketed $205,676. The 2-5 favorite, she paid $2.80 to win.
The lone filly to break Wrenn Jr.'s hold on the proceedings was Kay Again (Hall), who won the first $58,000 pacing clash in 1:52 3/5. She showed the way through stations of 27 1/5, 56 2/5, and 1:24 1/5, then used a 28 2/5 final kicker to down pocket-sitter Tura Lura Lural (Kauffman) by a length and a half. Pearl Crush (Ryan Stahl) snagged third money.
A Dragon Again filly, Kay Again is trained by Mike Roth for owner/breeder Alan Keith. Kay Again is now a seven-time winner, and she has put away $133,470. Also a 2-5 public choice, Kay Again returned $2.80 to win.
