Scioto Downs: A Dejarmbro double in Ohio Sire Stakes

Two O B Wonkenobi and Pass The Vape, both sons of Dejarmbro, gave their father a siring sweep in a pair of $50,000 divisions of the fourth leg of the Ohio Sires Stakes for 3-year-old male trotters on Friday evening at Scioto Downs.
Driven by Ronnie Wrenn Jr., Two O B Wonkenobi was able to overcome the outside post nine to get the lead passing the 27 2/5 opening quarter in the opening flight. Two O B Wonkenobi was then able to back the pace way down the in the second quarter, getting to the half in just 57 1/5.
Get The Cash (Greg Grismore) tried things first-up from fourth at the half, but he was rebuffed by Two O B Wonkenobi to the 1:25 3/5 three-quarters, and the tempo-setter held sway in the final quarter as well, winning by half a length in 1:54 4/5. Uncle Buck (Aaron Merriman) came up the passing lane after a three-hole trip and was a closing second, with Mvp Luke (Dan Noble) third.
The victor is trained by Ernie Gaskin for owners Shara Weaver and Madeline Roche. Two O B Wonkenobi is now a nine-time winner in his life, and he pushed his bankroll to $120,065. The 3-5 favorite, he returned $3.40 to win.
In the other split Sand Cash (Chris Page) clicked off opening-half panels of 27 3/5 and 57 1/5, but a first-over Northmedo Mission (Merriman) poked a head in front from first-up at the 1:25 2/5 three-quarters. Pass The Vape (Derek Watiker) followed Northmedo Mission from second-over, pulled three-high coming off the final bend, and out-finished Northmedo Mission late to score by a head in 1:55 1/5. Dontforgetmaster (Josh Sutton) finished third.
Watiker also trains Pass The Vape for owner/breeder Lionel Watiker. This was Pass The Vape's eighth career victory, and he has now pocketed $133,404. The 5-2 second choice, Pass The Vape paid $7.80 to win.
