Scioto: Burke, Page team up for Ohio State Fair triple

Trainer Ron Burke and driver Chris Page won two Ohio State Fair splits for 2-year-old pacing fillies on Friday night at Scioto Downs and added another tally in a 3-year-old filly pace for good measure.
Burke pupils Cape Cod Hanover and Sea Silk, two daughters of first crop stallion Downbytheseaside, remained undefeated (four-for-four) in their respective careers by winning their races for the rookie filly pacers.
Cape Cod Hanover, bred by Hanover Shoe Farms and owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC., Rich Lombardo Racing, and Ras Racing Inc., took her $49,300 tilt in 1:51 4/5, and Sea Silk, who was bred by Steiner Stock Farm and is owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC., Knox Services Inc., and Hatfield Stables, bagged her $50,000 dash in 1:53.
In the first $57,500 grouping for sophomore pacing fillies, Burke and Page struck with Summer Touch, who went down the road to win in 1:51 3/5. A daughter of Well Said, she was bred by co-owners Knox Services Inc. and Slaughter Racing Stb LLC., and Burke Racing Stable LLC. and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. are now part of the ownership group.

Also scoring multiple Ohio State Fair victories was driver Brett Miller. He won the second $57,500 3-year-old filly pace with Smothastenesewisky, by Nob Hill High, from the pocket in 1:51 3/5 for owner-trainer Brian Haynes, and the second $55,500 3-year-old filly trot with Herculisa (by My MVP) from the two-hole over Burke-trained/Page-driven Celebrate With Me in 1:54 4/5 for trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. and owner Jesmeral Stable.
Hotshot Temptress, a McArdle filly, won the other $50,000 2-year-old filly pace in 1:53 with Aaron Merriman at the lines for trainer Kyle Ater and breeder Rebecca Ewing's Ivy Holdings. Hotshot Temptress has now won two straight stakes events, as she also tallied in the Ohio Sires Stakes at Scioto on July 24.
Back in the first $55,500 3-year-old filly trot, Katie's Lucky Day, driven by Trevor Smith for trainer Todd Luther and owner Black Magic Racing LLC., tallied from first-up in 1:54 1/5 at odds of 1-9. It was career win number 13 for the daughter of Uncle Peter.
