Scioto: Brassy Hanover, Workin Ona Mystery fire with both barrels in Send It In Invitationals

Brassy Hanover and Workin Ona Mystery turned in matching 1:48 3/5 clockings in winning the two $100,000 #SendItIn Invitationals for older pacers on Sunday night at Scioto Downs.
Little Rocket Man (Trace Tetrick) was the 3-5 choice in the first division, and he had the lead through fractions of 26 3/5, 55 1/5, and 1:21 4/5. Little Rocket Man turned for home first, but he'd been stalked all the way in the two-hole by Brassy Hanover (Andrew McCarthy), and McCarthy sent him two-wide in the lane. Little Rocket Man dug in, but Brassy Hanover rallied by under confident handling and won by half a length. Southwind Amazon (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) got third.
Trainer Jeff Cullipher also co-owns Brassy Hanover, a 4-year-old gelding by Well Said, with partner Pollack Racing LLC. This was his eighth career win, and he has now earned $340,455. He was sent off at 7-1 and paid $16.80 to win.
Workin Ona Mystery (Tim Tetrick) got around the lone mare in the field, Warrawee Ubeaut (Chris Page), for the top spot prior to the 25 4/5 opening quarter in the other invitational and continued to show the way to the half in 54 1/5 and the three-quarters in 1:21. That 26 4/5 third quarter put away a first-up try from None Bettor (Dexter Dunn), and Workin Ona Mystery zipped home in 27 3/5 to win by five lengths. Sectionline Bigry (Tyler Smith) rallied from eighth to second in the final quarter, with Escapetothebeach (George Brennan) third.
A 4-year-old son of Captaintreacherous, Workin Ona Mystery is trained by Brian Brown for owners Diamond Creek Racing, Stambaugh Leeman Stable, Alan Keith, and Wingfield Brothers LLC. Workin Ona Mystery now has a record of 12-4-3 from 25 efforts, and he has banked $637,966. He was the favorite and returned $3.40 to win.
