Scioto: Allegiant trots to Moni Maker title
?q=100)
Allegiant picked up her second straight Grand Circuit victory by taking Saturday night's $100,000 Moni Maker for 3-year-old trotting fillies on Saturday night at Eldorado Scioto Downs.
Coming off a tally in the Currier & Ives at The Meadows on June 7, Allegiant tucked into the third position tonight as Jurassic Hattie (Brett Miller), who was looking to improve her record to six-for-six this year, stepped to the point in a 27 second opening quarter. Jurassic Hattie then backed down the half-mile clocking to 56 2/5, with Myers guiding Allegiant first-over past that marker.
Jurassic Hattie and Allegiant were locked in a side-by-side duel by the time the 1:24 three-quarters went on the board, and they continued to trade blows into the lane. Allegiant wouldn't be denied, though, as she forged her way by Jurassic Hattie early in the stretch and then pulled clear to score by two lengths in 1:52 1/5. Jurassic Hattie had to settle for second and Roxanna (Aaron Merriman) closed with some trot to get up for third.
