Scioto: All-age trotting track record broken, another track record tied

Prince Of Honor 6-13-25

One track record was lowered and one was equaled at Eldorado Scioto Downs on Friday (June 13).

Prince Of Honor became the fastest trotter in the history of Scioto after winning the $26,000 Open Trot in 1:50 2/5, a fifth of a second faster than Homicide Hunter's mile in 2018.

Refined (Aaron Merriman) set the tempo in the event, tripping fractions of 26 1/5, 55 1/5 and 1:22 2/5, but in the stretch Chris Page took Prince Of Honor up the outside to just get by, winning by a neck. Refined was second while New Swan In Town (Tyler Smith) got up for third.

Prince Of Honor is a 5-year-old gelded son of Walner who now has 17 wins in 56 lifetime starts and $473,619 in earnings. The Ron Burke trainee is owned by Burke Racing and Weaver Bruscemi.

Just three races later, Rose Run Aimee and Dan Noble took the $30,000 Steve McCoy final in 1:49 4/5, tying the track record for 3-year-old pacing fillies. Fresh off a second-place finish in Ohio Sires Stakes action at Northfield, Rose Run Aimee left sharply from post seven and led at every call. Fractions of 26 4/5, 55 1/5 and 1:23 left enough in the tank to come home in 26 4/5 to win by 4 1/4 lengths. Finishing second was pocket-sitter Tameudown (Austin Hanners) and Rylee Too (Page) was third.

Rose Run Aimee, by Racing Hill and out of the Western Terror mare Private Performance, is owned by Dr. Jill Dentel, William Rufenacht, Gene Roth and Jeff Bankey. The James Ehrsam trainee is now three-for-five on the season with $83,211 in lifetime earnings.

Racing continues Saturday with a 15-race card, including the $25,000 Open Pace.

Final Next Generation Deadline June 15

The last chance to purchase a slot for the Next Generation, held at Eldorado Scioto Downs, is June 15, with a $12,000 nomination. The event for Ohio-sired 2-year-olds will be held on Saturday, July 5.

Three spots are still available for both the filly pace and filly trot. If at least two spots are not purchased in each, the respective division will not go.

The colt pace has one spot available but will go with the current eight slots purchased.

The colt trot is closed.

Full conditions for the Next Generation are available on the USTA website at horsemen.ustrotting.com.
