Saylorville winner Joyful Cadence will run next at Saratoga or Del Mar

Trainer John Ortiz said Joyful Cadence has stakes options at Del Mar and Saratoga following her cruising win in the $100,000 Saylorville on Saturday night at Prairie Meadows.
Joyful Cadence rolled by more the five lengths, while winning in hand. The daughter of Runhappy is a half-sister to Dubai World Cup winner Country Grammer.
“She’s the queen,” said Ortiz.
Ortiz said Joyful Cadence’s options going forward include the Grade 2, $200,000 Honorable Miss at six furlongs July 27 at Saratoga; the Grade 3, $150,000 Rancho Bernardo Handicap at 6 1/2 furlongs Aug. 28 at Del Mar; and the Grade 1, $500,000 Ballerina at seven furlongs Aug. 28 at Saratoga.
The Saylorville win was the first in the race for Ortiz and Joyful Cadence’s owner, WSS Racing.
“We had her pointed to this race since her last start at Churchill,” Ortiz said. “The Saylorville is a stakes race that has eluded WSS Racing and I twice, once with Hunny Bunny running second and again with Pretty Greeley running third. It was nice to come back and finally get a win in a race we’d been eyeballing.”
