Saturday TimeformUS Highlight Horse: Eden Ridge gets some needed class relief

Becker’s Galaxy (#1) is a deserving favorite here. While he hasn’t won for Rudy, he’s run well in all of his starts for this barn. He’s winless over wet tracks, but he performed adequately enough against some decent horses in the More to Tell Stakes last time and has finished in the money in eight of his 11 starts over off surfaces.

Beyond him, there are plenty of intriguing options at more attractive prices. James Lane (#5) should appreciate getting back to one turn, Zabaione (#4) looks to be back in top form for James Bond, and Papa Shot (#8) has been very consistent for the always-dangerous Linda Rice barn. However, I’m more interested in a different horse who figures to go off at an even higher price than those competitors.

EDEN RIDGE (#7) gets some serious class relief in this spot. He simply had no chance against the likes of Send It In last time, and prior to that, he was facing the seasoned allowance horses Testosterstone and Diversify, who each would be a heavy favorite in this spot. Eden Ridge has handled wet tracks on a few occasions and should appreciate the slight turnback to a one-turn mile. He’d be quite a bargain at anything close to his morning-line price.
