Saturday stakes recaps (9/6/03)

* Academic Angel ($10.40), allowed to coast through leisurely early fractions, had more than enough to hold off 6-5 favorite I'm the Business to win the River Cities Stakes at Louisiana Downs.

* Okie Style ($3.80) took the lead approaching the stretch under jockey Ken Shino and went on to score a 1 1/4-length victory over a closing War Reality in the $40,000 Prairie Meadows Freshman Stakes.

* Longshot Aspen Gal ($30.60) stalked a fast early pace before drawing off to an eight-length victory in the Prairie Meadows Debutante for 2-year-old fillies.

* Strawbailey ($11) rallied up the rail to successfully defend her title in the $35,000 Ricks Memorial at Remington Park. It was a half-length back in second to Devout Sinner.
