Saturday stakes recaps (9/13/03)

* Roundabout Jones ($7.60), an impressive maiden winner at first asking last month, ran his record to 2 for 2 as he captured the colt and gelding division of the $71,005 Friendship Stakes at Louisiana Downs. In the filly division of the Friendship, Hay Lauren ($7.80) outdueled Royal Pet down the stretch and picked up her fourth win from five career starts.

* Favorites were upset by blowout winners in both divisions of the $45,000 Texas Stallion Stakes at Retama Park near San Antonio. Lady Mallory ($4.20) was a 10 3/4-length winner over 4-5 favorite Eagle Lake in the fillies and mares division, while Fitzroyal ($5.80) was a 7 3/4-length winner of the male division over even-money favorite Most Feared.
