Saturday stakes recaps (8/26/06)

DRF Staff|Aug 28, 2006

* Under a confident ride by Ben Russell, Marianne Rose ($4.30) won the $51,068 Lassie Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Hastings. Trained by Richard Wright, she stalked an honest pace and took a narrow lead, then prevailed by a neck after a stretchlong duel with Zaylaway.

* My Silver Charm ($3.20) became a stakes winner when she drove to a 2 3/4-length win over Texas Cowgirl in the $40,000 Lakeway at Retama Park near San Antonio. It was another nose back in third to Olmosta.

* The 2-year-old filly Plaer's Trump performed like a seasoned veteran as she flashed speed, settled back, and moved inside rivals through the far turn to draw clear for a 2 3/4-length win in the $13,992 Club House Special at Columbus.
