Ryan McAlinden/EQUI-PHOTO Joey P, and jockey Joe Bravo, win the $60,000 Rutgers University Stakes at the Meadowlands.

* Ballroom Deputy ($11.70) earned her first stakes victory with a one-length win in the Grade 3, $251,600 Maple Leaf Stakes at Woodbine.

* Mr. Trieste ($2.60) won his seventh straight race by a neck in the $81,600 Veteran at Zia Park, and in the process set a track record for the second time at the inaugural meet by covering 1 1/16 miles in 1:43. Trainer Gary Cross said Mr. Trieste could make his next start in the $100,000 Zia Park Distance Championship at 1 1/8 miles on Dec. 4.

* Gold Casing ($9.40), the co-second choice in the $75,000 Northern Dancer at Laurel Park, led for the entire 1 1/8 miles to register a four-length upset over odds-on Promenade Girl, the only filly in the field of eight 3-year-olds.

* Joey P. ($4.20) bounced back from a seventh-place finish in the Sport Page Handicap two weeks earlier to score a 4 1/2-length victory in the $70,800 Rutgers University Stakes on closing night at The Meadowlands.

* Jockey Anthony Mawing swept both divisions of the West Virginia Futurity at Charles Town, coaxing Shesagrumptoo ($6) to win a three-horse photo by a neck in race 7 and guiding King Cohl ($3.80) to a four-length score in race 9.

* D Fine Okie ($16) was a head winner over Red Lifesaver in the $40,000 Lady's Secret for fillies and mares at Remington Park.

* Heavenly Ransom ($3.60), making only her second career start after a winning debut at Oak Tree at Santa Anita last month, drew off to a 1 3/4-length win in the $40,000 Chandler Handicap at Turf Paradise.

* Defending champion Count on My Word ($5) took advantage of a ground-saving trip under jockey Ernesto Oro and rallied to score a three-quarter-length victory over even-money favorite Go Johnny Go in the $40,000 Ruff/Kirchberg Memorial Handicap at Beulah Park.

* Shining Tee Pie ($9.40) rallied for a half-length win over favored Streakin Patriot in the $447,852 Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association Futurity at Evangeline Downs.
