OZONE PARK, N.Y. - A parade of double-digit-priced winners capped by Blown Cover’s 41-1 upset in Friday’s finale have resulted in a carryover in both the late pick five and pick six wagers Saturday at Aqueduct.
The carryover in the late pick five is $240,923 and the carryover in the pick six, the latter having not been hit for two days, is $123,936. The late pick five is a 50-cent wager while the pick six is a $1 bet.
The late pick five sequence on Saturday will be on races 7 through 11 while the pick six will encompass races 6 through 11.
The carryover in the pick six was assured going into the last race regardless of who won. The only horse that would have triggered a late pick five carryover was Blown Cover, who, at 41-1, got up in the final strides to beat Nano Man.
Blown Cover, trained by the suddenly red-hot Rudy Rodriguez, returned $84.86. Rodriguez, who also won Friday’s fourth race with Mozambique ($19.64). Rodriguez has won five races through the first six days of the Belmont at Aqueduct fall meet after going 2 for 84 at Saratoga.
In between, Mozambique and Blown Cover, the other winners in the pick six were Siyouni Flash ($20.16), Sweet Montreal ($24.44), Accelerated News ($11.08), and Mayor of Midnight ($19.18).
Friday marked the second straight card that the consolation payout in the pick six paid out to those tickets that had 4 of 6 correct.
Saturday’s pick six starts on race 6 (3:38 p.m. Eastern) while the late pick five begins with race 7 (4:10 p.m.). There are three turf races in both sequences, including the Grade 3, $175,000 Winter Memories Stakes for 3-year-old fillies topped by May Day Ready, winner of the Grade 2 Lake Placid Stakes at Saratoga in her most recent start.
