Saratoga Wednesday card canceled due to heavy rain

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Wednesday’s eight-race card at Saratoga was canceled due to heavy rain that impacted the area, the New York Racing Association announced.
According to a release, Saratoga received more than four inches of rain overnight and the forecast called for two or more inches of rain throughout the day. The National Weather Service has placed the Capital Region under a flood watch through 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Before announcing the cancellation of the entire card, NYRA had announced the four scheduled turf races would be moved to the main track. The Curlin Stakes for 3-year-olds scheduled for Wednesday will now be run Sunday. The race was to be re-drawn on Wednesday.
NYRA on Wednesday also cut short training on the main track at 9 a.m., one hour earlier than usual.
Those who purchased tickets for Wednesday’s card will be contacted by the NYRA box office for additional information about refunds or exchanges. In addition, Aqueduct will be closed for simulcasting Wednesday.
Live racing is scheduled to resume Thursday with a nine-race card.
