SPOT PLAYS AND LIVE LONGSHOTS

Saratoga Race 5, (4:38 ET)

BOARDWALK BARON (#5, 10-1) You can make a case for almost anyone in this wide open conclusion to a not-so-early pick 4, but this 3-year-old figures to have better early position stretching out from two sprints to begin his career, and he picks up the leading rider while dropping from maiden special-weight company. - Dave Litfin

Saratoga Race 6, (5:11 ET)

MARACUYA (#6, 5-2) gets the turn back in distance that she needs here after getting a chance to try some of the better 3yo's in the division going longer, and is perfectly drawn on the outside to use her speed. - Mike Beer

Saratoga Race 7, (5:44 ET)

TAKEOFF YOUR HAT (#6, 9-2) Homebred gray has been typically well-prepped by Serpe and doesn't seem to meet anything all too formidable in her unveiling. Has had a number of breezes over the local course and might carry an edge versus some of these other firsters in that regard; Serpe continues to make his presence felt here as the stand winds down. Money figures to show, and for good reason. - Marty McGee

Saratoga Race 8, (6:17 ET)

BELLA CASTINA (#7, 7-2) fair value at the ML price of 7-2, goes long again after she ran a decent race for 2nd going seven furlongs in her latest, despite having to close into a mild pace; she had trouble in her previous try, at Monmouth, but she can make amends here with a clean trip. - Kenny Peck

Saratoga Race 8, (6:17 ET) - LIVE LONGSHOT

PROMISE ME MORE (#5, 8-1) moves to the Asmussen barn, though with same ownership, off the five month layoff; ran similar dirt and turf figures as a 2yo before improving on dirt early this year; abundance of speed in here to enhance her late kick. - Chuck Kuehhas

VULNERABLE FAVORITES

Saratoga Race 6, (5:11 ET)

Delightful Quality (#2, 6-5) Faces only five others as she returns to her available allowance condition, but isn't exactly a winning type and her typical race doesn't give her that much of an edge on her main competition - if it gives her any at all. - Mike Beer
