SPOT PLAYS AND LIVE LONGSHOTS

Saratoga Race 1, (1:00 ET)

SLAN ABHAILE (#4, 7-2) Turf experiment at Bel was an obvious failure for a colt who adds Rosario today and could very well find the pace made to his order, what with Googleado, Indian Nobility, and Rincon Behr liable to go out winging while he lurks in their shadows. Gulf and CD efforts show he can punch home nicely; a fast track would be a welcome sight for a Hard Spun colt who's ready to start showing his stuff. – Marty McGee

Saratoga Race 2, (1:30 ET)

STORMY HENRY (#3, 4-1) The most experienced member of the field continues to show improvement and may gain a little extra focus to boot with the addition of blinkers if his local gate work on July 31 any indication. Gets big rider change with Castellano taking the call. - Mike Welsch

Saratoga Race 6, (3:35 ET) - LIVE LONGSHOT

ARCHER HILL (#4, 6-1) Following an even effort first time out in nearly two months, this colt gets blinkers for his return to Saratoga, where he beat multiple stakes winner Notacatbutallama as a first-time starter last August. - Dave Litfin

Saratoga Race 6, (3:35 ET)

ARCHER HILL (#4, 6-1) seems primed to move forward off that last start, his first try off the layoff, if his local works are any indication; perhaps the addition of blinkers moves him up. - Kenny Peck

Saratoga Race 9, (5:12 ET)

MISS MONTREAL (#8, 8-1) ships up from CRC exiting a solid stake and went out pretty well after race; think she gets good position right behind the two speeds. - Chuck Kuehhas

Saratoga Race 10, (5:45 ET) - LIVE LONGSHOT

SUCCESSFUL DAN (#1, 12-1) Should be a little price after getting thrashed by Fort Larned in the Foster but training as well as anybody at this track right now, just needs to trip out under Leparoux to spring the mild upset. - Mike Welsch

Saratoga Race 11, (6:18 ET)

AVE'S HALO (#7, 7/2) has races from last year that make her competitive and she received a ridiculous trip/ride behind a slow pace in her only 2013 start. - Mike Beer

VULNERABLE FAVORITES

Saratoga Race 6, (3:35 ET)

WITH EXULTATION (#12, 5-1) is a contender in this spot, but drew a tough post and exits a disappointing loss on June 22 as a short priced favorite, and that race has already seen several horses return to lose again at relatively short prices. - Mike Beer

Saratoga Race 9, (4:14 ET)

LAUGH OUT LOUD (#3, 5-2) One time Group 2 winner looks nicely placed in this overnight stakes and the switch to Chad Brown barn and addition of Lasix both big plusses although he hasn't run a good race since September and he could just be suspect enough to try to beat in the De La Rose. - Mike Welsch
