SPOT PLAYS AND LIVE LONGSHOTS

Saratoga Race 1, (1:00 ET)

SOUPER LUCKY (#7, 4-1) has raced greenly and encountered trouble in pair of sprints to begin his career, now stretches out with pedigree to handle the added distance. - Mike Beer

Saratoga Race 7, (4:14 ET) - LIVE LONGSHOT

INDIAN STARLIGHT (#6, 12-1) showed speed in her maiden score three back but she tried closing in her two starts vs. winners, failing to threaten two back when stuck behind tepid fractions and rallying nicely last time, after racing closer to the early pace; her ability to stay close is a plus in this one, which seems to lack speed, and it should enable her to get the jump on the stretch-runners. - Kenny Peck

Saratoga Race 9, (5:20 ET)

FOURSEVENTEEN (#10, 5-1) Expecting stark improvement from this NY-bred when making his second start for Serpe, who really caught 'em off guard Monday with that 16-1 winner in MSW company. Now adds Johnny V. after having just a nightmare trip in his Spa return earlier this month; a nice stalk-and-see trip while keeping in the clear would help the cause. Price should be right, given all the other options here; fine with us. - Marty McGee

Saratoga Race 9, (5:20 ET)

HYMAN ROTH (#3, 12-1) Double-digit odds on the morning line seem overly generous, but this improving 3-year-old may still be a square price stepping up to the allowance ranks after a lifetime best effort. He's won three of four turf starts, and his early speed fits the current winning profile on Saratoga's inner course. - Dave Litfin

Saratoga Race 9, (5:20 ET) - LIVE LONGSHOT

TOWERING ESCAPE (#6, 8-1) overcame slow start to get up after five month layoff; there's a chance he may be better sprinting, though not convinced, so demand double digit odds in this spot. - Chuck Kuehhas

VULNERABLE FAVORITES

Saratoga Race 2, (1:32 ET)

TALENT N PASSION (#1, 2-1) She's certainly quick from the gate but she's blown clear leads in each of her last two starts at this distance, and she could face pressure here from Dixie Sparkle. She'll also need a quick start from the rail. - Kenny Peck
