SPOT PLAYS AND LIVE LONGSHOTS

Saratoga Race 1, (1:00 ET)

TREASURED (#1, 12-1): Travers day hangover? Don’t sleep in, because this 3-year-old filly makes her second start back from a layoff, and shortens up to one mile after leading at the stretch call of return at 1 1/8 miles. She’s also moving from the far outside pos to the rail. -Dave Litfin

Saratoga Race 6, (3:41 ET)

STAR CHANNEL (#7, 6-1) could look at his last two races from a couple of different ways, his last two were bad due to leaving the Pletcher barn, or due to being in turf marathons; at 7 or 8-1, I'll take a chance on the latter. - Chuck Kuehhas

IMAGINING (#6, 9-5) That two-back allowance win at Keeneland was really something to behold, and after something apparently went awry for this guy on Preakness Day in a rugged renewal of the Dixie, he’s been training quite forwardly alongside his Derby-winning Phipps stablemate Orb down at Fairhill in Maryland. Have to love how he seems to be the dominant early goer on this stretchout to 11 panels, especially with the addition of blinkers and knowing HOF trainer will have him ready to just keep rolling out top with Javier at the controls. – Marty McGee

VULNERABLE FAVORITES

Saratoga Race 2, (1:30 ET)

Rail draw often proves perilous for first-timers, even those who’ve turned in a.m. bullets for the Todd Squad and come strongly backed at the windows. POTOSI'S SILVER (#2, 2-1) steps forth with an OK pedigree and works and all, but she’d better be extra-nimble to gather position in what shapes up as a pretty nice-looking group of 2yo fillies. Taking a guess that things will not be made for order for her as she gets some schooling in her unveiling. – Marty McGee

Saratoga Race 8, (4:44 ET)

CROWN QUEEN (#10, 7-2) half sister to champ Royal Delta (who starts later on card) drew the extreme outside post making career debut going two turns on the turf for Hall of Fame connections; plenty of other well bred turf horses to choose from. - Chuck Kuehhas

Saratoga Race 8, (6:22 ET)

INSPIRED EXCHANGE (#12, 12-1) must overcome outside post, but she has flashed some ability on dirt, has the pedigree to handle the surface switch being a half-sister the Grade 2 turfer The Niagara Queen, and lands in a race that appears to have enough pace for her to run into.- Mike Beer
