SPOT PLAYS AND LIVE LONGSHOTS

Saratoga Race 1, (1:00 ET)

HAVANA (#1, 2-1) Training like a special 2yo, main caveat the fact he must break from the rail although he came away from the gate very alertly when schooled here earlier in the week. May have to beat Kendall's Boy who has also trained well for his bow. - Mike Welsch

Saratoga Race 3, (2:04 ET) - LIVE LONGSHOT

DEHERE OF THE CAT (#2, 6-1) Realize that Crackerjack Jones "beat the race" last time when surviving a hotly contested pace, but he faces more pressure here from the rail, and Dehere of the Cat can benefit after getting wired by Bug Juice in a paceless affair on August 4th. - Mike Beer

Saratoga Race 7, (4:14 ET) - LIVE LONGSHOT

QUEENIE'S GOLD (#3, 8-1) not sure how often stretching out from five furlong sprint to 1m 3/8 marathon works, but it didn't last time out for this 3yo filly; that being said, sharp conditioner has her spotted properly here. - Chuck Kuehhas

Saratoga Race 8, (4:47 ET)

NICE STUFF (#2, 5-1) Serpe-trained mare takes what appears to be a class jump, one that's deserved after that life's-best Beyer vs. beaten claimers, but she might actually match up nicely against these state-breds at the 2x alw. level. Rosario departs for the Hertler filly, and that's fine; we'll take Irad and the nicer price. Speed aplenty to the outside could facilitate her steady kick following a patient ground-saving trip. - Marty McGee

Saratoga Race 9, (5:20 ET)

JUDY THE BEAUTY (#8, 5-1) Finished second despite an unlucky trip in the Princess Rooney, doing well since arriving locally earlier this summer. Ready to finally break through with a Grade 1 win with any racing luck. - Mike Welsch

Saratoga Race 10, (5:52 ET) - LIVE LONGSHOT

INVINCIBLE ME (#9, 15-1) While the winner set a snail's pace, this first-time starter was off slow, wide on the far turn and bumped in the stretch. A cleaner trip and better pace setup could lead to improvement for Tom Amoss, who is 35% with second-out maidens in 2012-13. - Dave Litfin

Saratoga Race 10, (5:52 ET)

SECRETIVE (#2, 5-1) was carried wide and also had some slow splits to deal with in that return try, but given a better trip here he has license to move way up; Shug's record with horses making their 2nd starts off the layoff adds to the appeal. - Kenny Peck

VULNERABLE FAVORITES

Saratoga Race 5, (3:08 ET)

Ainteasybeinggreen (#7, 8-5) Faces mostly first time starters, and it's always possible that they just won't be any good, but this horse gave way readily when challenged in his debut and is vulnerable again to any moderately talented rival. - Mike Beer
