Saratoga Vulnerable Favorites, Live Longshots, and Spot Plays: August 11

DRF Staff|Aug 10, 2013

1:30 SAR 2nd

RADIANT (#8, 3-1), a daughter of Sky Mesa, has shown much promise in each of her last two gate drills, should come out running with Rosario aboard, will have to beat Pletcher firster Sweet Whiskey. - Mike Welsch

4:07 SAR 7th

TEEN PAULINE (#4, 7-2) has been a disappointment in both main track starts this year but worked well on a couple of occasions over the turf, expecting a wake up call in her inner course bow. - Mike Welsch

6:18 SAR 11th

SOUL OPPOSITION (#8, 12-1) makes her return from the short layoff, a solid angle for trainer Bruce Levine; works suggest she’ll improve off her previous turf Beyers. –Kenny Peck

6:18 Sar 11th

AMBER MORNING (#10, 6-1) Stretchout off the very useful debut and addition of HOF jock could get this Serpe-trained NY-bred into the hunt right away. Several of his opponents have already shown a reluctance to win, and after the Aug. 2 tour of the local grass course, this guy could be ready to show vast improvement off the decent bow. There or thereabouts the whole trip. – Marty McGee

LIVE LONGSHOTS

1:00 SAR 1st

BOLD FOREST (#9, 3-1) has races that are faster than any of these have run, but those five seconds out of eight career starts are glaring. Also has a bit of a wide draw on the inner, so will take a shot against.- Chuck Kuehhas

1:30: SAR 2nd

Todd doesn’t have to win every time he sends out one of these firsters whose morning drills have the “whispers” reaching a crescendo, does he? Of course SWEET WHISKEY (#6, 6-5) is fast, but there are some other newbies in here (i.e., Divided Attention, Chief Dante, Radiant) whose pedigrees and preparation suggest they might be ready for whatever’s thrown their way. Worth taking a calculated stand against. – Marty McGee

3:03 SAR 5TH

ZEKES SURPRISE (#2, 8-1): A few promising angles here for a filly who makes her third start of the year and returns to dirt after two turf races at Belmont, the last one in the Cupecoy’s Joy vs. Frosty Bay, who captured another N.Y. Stallion Series race Thursday. She was third in a sprint stake on the main track at Saratoga last year. -Dave Litfin

4:39 SAR 8th

DOWNTOWNOSCARBROWN (#7, 12-1) half to multiple turf winners makes grass debut for barn that’s been firing at meet. Will make a win bet and exacta box with #5 RIP ROARIN RITCHIE.- Chuck Kuehhas
