Saratoga Snacks stays sharp

Barbara D. Livingston Saratoga Snacks is being pointed to the Commentator Stakes May 25 at Belmont.
OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Saratoga Snacks, who won a New York-bred allowance race Feb. 12, breezed a sharp half-mile in 48.15 seconds over the Belmont Park training track Thursday.
Gary Sciacca, the owner and trainer of Saratoga Snacks, said he was hopeful of finding another allowance race for Saratoga Snacks before he takes on stakes company. Sciacca did not nominate him to the March 22 Stymie at 1 1/8 miles.
“I’d like to run him a mile or a mile and 70 [yards] again,” Sciacca said on Thursday. “He came out better than he’s come out of any of his races for me. He worked good today.”
Sciacca is hopeful of getting Saratoga Snacks to the $200,000 Commentator Stakes at Belmont Park on May 25.
