Saratoga: Pick six carryover for Woodward card is $64K
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - There will be a pick six carryover of $64,406 heading into Saturday's Woodward Day card at Saratoga after the wager went unhit on Friday.
After Zalmara ($35.20) won the ninth race, it left only two horses - Red Leader and Midnite Silver -covered in the pick six. The race was won by Short Shrift, who ended up the slight 7-2 favorite over Midnite Silver, who finished third. Red Leader finished second.
The pick six sequence of 6-2-6-7-3-10 included Royale Bonnie ($15.20), Speightscity ($8.20), River Fancy ($14.20), Isn'tlovejustgrand ($13.40), Elusive Pearl ($19.80), and Short Shrift ($9.60). The consolation payout (5 of 6) returned $4,293.
Saturday's pick six sequence begins with race 7 and consists of all dirt races including three Grade 1's - the Personal Ensign, the Forego, and the Woodward - and ends with a maiden 2-year-old New York-bred race going 6 1/2 furlongs.
Saturday's late pick four - races 9-12 - has a guaranteed pool of $500,000.
