Saratoga: Overdriven done for the year

Overdriven, winner of the Grade 3 Sanford, will not race again this year due to bone re-modeling, according to trainer Todd Pletcher.
Pletcher had to cancel two workouts for Overdriven in August after he didn’t like how the colt warmed up. The horse was sent to New Bolton Clinic in Pennsylvania, but X-rays didn’t reveal any fractures.
“Basically, he has some changes to his cannon bones that were signs of immaturity,” Pletcher said. “No fractures, no surgery necessary, we just decided we’d give him some time off and focus on Gulfstream. Tough decision, but my gut is telling me to give him a break.”
Overdriven is now convalescing at Jimmy Crupi’s farm in Ocala, Fla.
