Saratoga Keys, B's and C's: July 20

Mike Beer|Jul 19, 2013

Saratoga Pick 3 (Races 3-5)

by Mike Beer

Race 3

Keys: Wave Theory, Caroline Thomas

B’s: With Sugar on Top

C’s: Broken Spell

Both WAVE THEORY (#8, 5-2) & CAROLINE THOMAS (#10, 4-1) have flashed potential while lacking in the “luck” department; think they are better than their competition here, and at least one of them is going to catch a break sooner or later. If they don’t, WITH SUGAR ON TOP, (#9, 6-1) and BROKEN SPELL (#11, 8-1) are capable.

Race 4

Keys: Rosalie’s Pleasure

B’s: Therapy, Echuath

C’s: Utopian Wife, Amber Morning, Ivana Pucker

Think ROSALIE'S PLEASURE (#11, 6-1) has found the right spot if ready off the layoff; trio of interesting firsters are among the backups in the event that she is not.

Race 5

Keys: Mr Cowboy, Why Not Whiskey, Captain Gaughen

B’s: Poliziotto, Read the Proposal

C’s: None

5th feels like a good race to play against some of the shorter priced contenders, and each of the three “keys” have races that are good enough.

Pick 3 sequence Races 7-8-9 Saturday

by Mike Welsch

Race 7

A’s Even Got Quiet Soul House

B’s Kid Blast Crackerjack Jones

C-s Alcolite

SOUL HOUSE (#8, 4-1) could be the key to this race dropping back into allowance company and exiting a very competitive workout with his older, stakes tested stable mate Malibu Glow. EVEN GOT QUIET (#4, 6-1) raced against the bias when a good fourth against tough bunch of starter allowance rivals returning from a long layoff and may relish the turn back in distance. Alcolite tossed in at the price after showing improved speed in recent a.m. trial.

Race 8

A’s Miraculoso

B’s Celebrated Talent Charlie’s Picnic

C’s Del Mar Sunset Tony D.

MIRACULOSO (#2, 9-2) looked very good working in company with more accomplished mate earlier in the meet and should both benefit from and improve off his debut. TONY D. (#8, 20-1) could be a bit of a sleeper adding blinkers and turning back to a sprint for third start of his form cycle.

Race 9

A’s Authenticity

B’s Flashy American

AUTHENTICITY (#7, 7-5) appears to have a decided edge over this field on many levels including the pace factor with a lack of any other real speed in the lineup and should get back on winning track dropping out of Grade 1 company. Flashy American continues to improve and worked well for this at Oklahoma training center last weekend.
