Kele Kele and Just Divine posted victories on the front-end in the two $82,500 New York Sire Stakes races for 3-year-old pacing fillies on Friday night at Saratoga Casino Hotel. Driver Wally Hennessey sent Kele Kele away quickly from post five in the opening division, and she would go by Nite Time Deal (Jordan Stratton) to take command on the way to the 28 second opening quarter. Hennessey then backed things down, getting to the half in just 58 1/5 before having to hit the accelerator to rebuff a first-over try by Lee Loo (Tyler Buter) heading to the 1:26 three-quarters and around the last turn. Coming off the bend, Kele Kele put Lee Loo away for good, and then the pace-setter kicked away through the stretch drive to tally by a length and three-quarters in 1:53 3/5. Two Proud (Pat Lachance) rallied from fifth and third-over to second at the wire, and Nite Time Deal ended up third after her pocket trip. A So Surreal filly, Kele Kele is trained by John McDermott for co-owner/breeder Peter Kleinhans and co-owners Jonathan Klee Racing, William Garofalo, and Hurrikane Racing LLC. She has compiled a record of 4-3-5 from 16 lifetime efforts, and she has now pocketed $158,151. The 2-1 second choice, Kele Kele returned $6.10 to win. ► Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter Starting from post one in the other split, Just Divine (Stratton) fired to the engine, was unchallenged through fractions of 28 1/5, 56 3/5, and 1:26 3/5, and even though pocket-sitter Valar Dohaeris (Mark MacDonald) made up some ground in the lane, it wasn't nearly enough, as Just Divine prevailed by three-quarters of a length in 1:53 4/5. Patsville (Buter) followed along on the cones in third and ended up finishing in that position. Ron Burke trains Just Divine, a daughter of Huntsville bred by Steve Jones, for owners W.J. Donovan, Craig Henderson, Joe Sbrocco, and Purnel & Libby LLC. She has four victories, five seconds, and a third from 16 trips behind the gate, has now earned $245,910, and paid $5.40 to win as the 8-5 second choice.
