Saratoga Harness: Jay Randall injured in accident
Driver Jay Randall was injured and taken to the hospital after an accident in the second race at Saratoga Raceway on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occured as the field headed towards the three-quarter pole when Lady Eloquence made a break and scattered the majority of the field.
Randall is said to have suffered seven broken ribs on his left side and two on his right side. He also has some minor fractures and blood in his chest. He remains in the ICU and will be monitored for the next few days.
Randall, who turned 60 earlier this month, has 4,438 driving wins and 239 as a trainer.
All other drivers suffered only minor injuries and all horses came out ok.
Due to the accident, the Virginia O'Brien Pacing series has been postponed until May 26.
