SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - With the Grade 1 Personal Ensign postponed from last Sunday to Saturday because of Hurricane Irene, trainer Marty Wolfson did a little ad-libbing with Ask the Moon, who had shipped here from her Monmouth Park base last Saturday morning. Ask the Moon, a former claimer, returned quick dividends for owner Myron Miller’s Farnsworth Stables when she drew off to a convincing 5 3/4-length victory in the Grade 1 Ruffian here on July 31. With jockey Javier Castellano aboard, Ask the Moon worked an easy half-mile in 47.76 seconds immediately after the break on Tuesday before galloping out five-eighths in 1:00.98 and pulling up a strong six furlongs in 1:15.26. “We were as surprised as anybody when she won the Ruffian,” Miller said. “So right now we’re not looking down the road at anything with her beyond this race on Saturday.”
