Saratoga: $134 winner in finale creates pick six carryover

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Thanks to trainer Frank Martin’s first victory at Saratoga in six years, there will be a pick six carryover of $76,567 heading into Sunday’s card.

The Martin-trained Ess Shape rallied down the outer portion of the main track to win Saturday’s nightcap, a $20,000 claimer, paying $134 in the process. Martin’s last winner at the Spa was Contender’s Emotion on Aug. 25, 2005.

Ess Shape’s victory capped a sequence that included double-digit priced winners Clip the Coupons ($15), Tiz Sardonic Joe ($20), and Karakorum Legend ($11.40). There was only one consolation ticket (5 of 6), which returned $25,522.

Sunday’s pick six begins with race 5 and includes three turf races. Rain is in the forecast, however.
