Sarasponda needed every inch of the Beulah Park stretch to get up to beat the 2-5 favorite, Money Card, in the $50,000 Bobbie Bricker Memorial on Saturday. Jockey Christian Pilares had the 3-year-old Sarasponda well off the early quick pace in the compact field of six before making a move on the far turn and wearing down Money Card in the stretch to prevail by a hard fought neck in the 1 1/16-mile Bricker. Trained by Joe Shuman, Sarasponda returned $7.60 to win. Money Card looked to have plenty left under Jabe Magrell and drew off at the top of the stretch, but gave way late and settled for second, two lengths in front of Baby Back Rib in third. The final time was 1:44.47 over a fast track.
