ALTOONA, Iowa – The Iowa Festival of Racing continues Saturday night with its trio of Grade 3 route races, beginning with the $200,000 Iowa Oaks, a 1 1/16-mile test that drew eight evenly matched 3-year-old fillies. Sarah Sis, the field’s lone graded stakes winner and the 1 3/4-length winner of the May 30 Panthers, the local Iowa Oaks prep race, was installed as a lukewarm 7-2 morning-line favorite. Trained at Arlington Park by Ingrid Mason, Sarah Sis, a Sharp Humor filly, used her good tactical speed to take Oaklawn Park’s Grade 3 Honeybee on March 7. After being pulled up in the Kentucky Oaks on May 1, Sarah Sis proved resilient when leading every step of the way for a relatively easy win over Iowa Oaks rivals Sweet Opportunity and Magnolia Steel in the Panthers. Drawn in post 2, Sarah Sis will again be partnered with jockey Julio Felix, who has ridden her in seven of her nine career outings. :: Bet Prairie Meadows with DRF Bets. Get up to a $500 cash bonus! Paige, who rallied for third in a wild renewal of Keeneland’s Grade 1 Alcibiades last Oct. 3, has trained forwardly since making a belated sophomore debut when second in a Churchill Downs turf dash May 29. Conditioned by Donnie K. Von Hemel, Paige, a Sky Mesa filly, is bred to handle a route of ground, and a seven-furlong breeze in 1:26.80 on June 15 at Churchill Downs will aid her stamina. Pangburn, who possesses a useful closing kick, flattened out in her May 31 turf debut when eighth in Belmont Park’s Wonder Again. As a result, trainer Ken McPeek has decided to treat her with Lasix for the first time in her seventh lifetime start. The Iowa Oaks, which is followed by the Iowa Derby and the Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap, has a scheduled post time of 8:17 p.m. Central.
